It's the end of the school year in Montgomery and Howard County, MD. Already?! I know! It brings with it big changes for my little family, a memorable ceremony, emotional flashbacks and quite a few tissues.
On the left is my daughter on her first day of Kindergarten in 2010. It seems like such a long time ago and just like the other day, all at once. What she's holding is a traditional German Zuckertüte (sugar cone) filled with treats and little gifts. I remember my mom bringing it with her that summer. Germany is a lot closer to 2012 than we are - 6 hours (from the East Coast) to be exact! I'll be sure to toast into the New Year early again as I skype with my family around midnight/6 pm - or actually I'll be ringing it in twice. We'll be having a fun evening with friends we haven't seen in over 2 years! There's no better way to spend the evening than with family and friends - be it right next to me or via Skype!
