home buying: Loan Approval vs. Comfort Level - 02/01/12 02:43 PM
Buying your Maryland home - loan approval vs. comfort levelReflecting back on the precrash market, buyers were a lot different than today. Back in those days it seemed to be less about finding a home than just a house. It was the nature of the beast. We all started with the best of intentions, hunting for the home of our dreams. However, writing offer after offer, competing against 10, 15 other buyers took its toll.
'Lets just finally get something, we will figure out how to make ends meet later or how to turn it into a home.' Expectations were … (8 comments)

home buying: Have buyer, need house! Where did the inventory go? - 10/26/11 03:32 PM
So, what happened to all that housing inventory?
I have a couple of great clients I'm currently working with, ready, willing and able buyers, preapproval in hand, excellent credit AND realistic expectations AND a pleasure to work with. It doesn't get much better than this.. Our problem, there are no houses! We have seen pretty much everything that fit their budget and needs in the desired area, even widened our search to include other school districts but there is just not that much to choose from. We had found one winner and Mr. and Mrs. Buyer made a pretty strong … (14 comments)

home buying: Community Spotlight: Historic Relay in Halethorpe, MD - 08/07/11 11:22 AM
Historic Relay is a Baltimore County, MD neighborhood, situated right across the county line from Howard off of Route 1. It is nestled in between the 895, 195 and 95.
Granted, nestled may seem like an odd word choice but once you visit the neighborhood you will know what I mean. It’s a secluded area boasting its “own” entrance (by proximity) to Patapsco Valley State Park – as a matter of fact you’ll see residents riding their bikes to the park quite often. Its closeness to major routes is an asset, not a draw-back, making it a convenient location for anyone working … (14 comments)

home buying: "A good home must be made, not bought" - 07/19/11 02:10 AM
"A GOOD HOME MUST BE MADE, NOT BOUGHT"~ Joyce Maynard: Domestic Affairs, 1987

Leaving the investment aspect out of the equation, we all buy houses for one reason = to have a HOME! One could argue that even investors and bankers do so, unless they all sleep at their desks and in their portfolios!

Once we've signed on the dotted lines, we receive a little piece of cold metal that has the amazing ability to warm our hearts instantly, the KEYS to our new home. But wait.. is it really our home or just a house at this … (11 comments)

home buying: Oh to be the Queen of that Castle! - 07/16/11 03:33 PM
I would love to be the queen of that castle. If those walls could talk, I'd take the days or weeks off to listen! I admit, this piece of Real Estate is far away from our turfs, but that doesn't make it less intriguing.
It's one of those rough gems that is just begging for attention, and if only I could I'd love to give that and then some. Everytime we visit my family in Germany, we walk around the castle in awe and dream of all the things we would do. We can actually see it from the window of … (7 comments)
