fox river homes: Affordability Drives Aurora, IL 38.9% Drop In Available Homes

Illinois' 2nd city home sales are being fueled by its variety of housing stock and affordable homes. With a 38.9% drop in inventory from February 2016's 2.9 months to the current level of 1.1 months buyers will have to be more aggressive when they find their dream home. In February 2017 there were 88 closed transactions vs. 2016's 85 transaction. About 3 homes per day in February 2017 were sold. Currently inventory* level breakdowns are listed:
Active - 213 New - 38 Ractivated - 7 Price Changes - 23 Total: 281

As a life time resident of the Aurora/Naperville area I have always been intrigued by the differences in two of our major cities: Aurora - "City of Lights" - 2nd largest city in IL and Naperville "Best Place to Raise a Family"and #5 in population. Naperville seems to always take the spotlight with its bustling downtown, corporate headquarters and for appearing on Money Magazines "Top Places to Raise a Family". Aurora has Fox Valley Mall (now known as Westfield Mall) that is a great sales tax generator but caused its downtown to lose the majority of its retail stores but now (1 comments)
