Making Blogging Effective and Productive
The ActiveRain Challenge for December, hosted by Brian England  and Jeff Dowler, CRS is to offer up constructive posts that inform and at the same time provide guidance to avoid getting into legal issues.
Getting started blogging does take some effort as it can be an entirely new experience. Most people spend a lot of time on social media but the interactions there tend to be short statements and more as contributing to a conversation. A blog post, however, is meant to be an informative article intended to both enlighten the general audience and also to demonstrate the author's … (14 comments)

blogging for points: Friday Flags in Waterbury CT Western Hills GC - 07/29/22 01:51 PM
Friday Flags in Waterbury CT Western Hills GC
I had the opportunity to play in a 2-day tournament, part of which was played at Western Hills Golf Course, a municipal course in Waterbury CT.
The course is most challenging, with lots of hills and small fast greens protected by deep bunkers.
Just as one enters the grounds the flag flies proudly right next to the club house.
I had a good round with a net of 68 just not good enough to place as my previous round the day before was not so good.
It is almost a certainty that a flag would fly at a … (7 comments)

blogging for points: Critters Found Along Some Golf Courses - 03/06/22 02:01 PM
Critters Found Along Some Golf Courses
We are making our way back to CT just not in a rapid way. While taking a few days on Hilton Head Island in South Carolina I stole off to try and beat up the South Carolina golf courses.
The particular course I tried had an abundance of wildlife. The birds were all over and with a lot of water that allowed for a different type of resident.

These were just off the fairways, so caution needed to be exercised and constant vigilance.
I worked real hard to stay center of fairways and if a ball took a curve, … (24 comments)

blogging for points: Every Day is a Gift, Appreciate Them - 09/18/16 11:20 PM
Every Day is a Gift, Appreciate Them
As adults we have a focus to maintain a lifestyle that would be comfortable for ourselves and our families. That particular degree of comfort is varied based upon drive, abilities and individual goals. The idea of getting a pile to live on and support ourselves in the future is constantly within.  Seldom do we take the time to appreciate the current state of our existence.
Success is a wonderful thing and with success can often come great happiness, provided we take the time to smell the roses. Our lives should be lived such that we can … (17 comments)

blogging for points: What to Write About As Fall Hits Full Swing - (1000 points inside) - 10/27/14 08:58 AM
As we get closer to Halloween and we have all done a post or 2 about Halloween activities in our area, please be reminded that there are 1000 points available for just posting it to the original announcement from ActiveRain.
The Halloween parade?
Pumpkin Patch
Halloween Maze?
There is still time left to scoop up the prize.

As your leaves begin to change (at least for some of us) and the kids are now in full swing at school, October presents some awesome opportunites for traffic to your blog.
In the past, this time of year has been a great opportunity to … (14 comments)

blogging for points: If You Feature This Post.....I Hit 400,000 Points :) Guess I Need To Make It Interesting, Nuts! - 12/08/10 05:35 AM
Very few Milestones are worthy of a feature, unless of course it's to reach 1,000,000. For today, at least helping a fellow Rainer reach a milestone is worth a llttle extra effort.
Karen, almost a Princess, Fiddler is just a few points shy of 400,000 points. Pop over to her blog and congratulate her on the goal she hopes to reach. And if you do, remember that a re-blig gives all a few extra points.

Better make it good, right? A big milestone....or maybe not. If it isn't featured (and I'm mostly kidding about that....mostly) then … (0 comments)
