How Do I Find My Anniversary Date On ActiveRain
I recently celebrated my 13th Anniversary here on the ActiveRain platform. While I am not one of the oldest here, I have been around for all of the special and not so special times in the Rain as have a lot of others.
To celebrate my Anniversary, I obviously posted a blog. (how else to get the points?)
We're Celebrating An Anniversary, which managed to get a feature star  .  How fierce I recall some of the posts looking for this recognition, but that's for a later date.
There were a few comments left not only … (40 comments)

Getting Postcards from the United Front of ActiveRain
I have been helping my Grandson Raphael and his class with a project for school. The task is to reach out to friends and family across the country to get postcards with postmarks from the states as well as including 2 facts of that state.
The response from friends, family and ActiveRainers has been very positive but there are still a few gaps to fill over the next month.
The missing states are detailed as follows:
News Jersey
New Mexico
New York

How Competitive Can You Be and Still Be Civil
This Saturday, May 2 was a very big day in the sports world. There was the running of the Kentucky Derby with a very competitive field of 3 year old horses.
This evening a Championship Welterweight title fight between Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao takes place in LAs Vegas.  It is a match that has taken 5 years to arrange and it is expected to gross over $300 million in revenue.
This is against the day of the NFL draft, the NFL and NBA playoffs, the WGC match play championship in San Francisco and the … (16 comments)

blogging recognition: Let Your Blogging Do The Walking and the Sourcing - 04/25/15 12:41 PM
When there were things like phone books, it was smart to get to those funny colored pages to find a professional for the job that needed to be done. Those books today are now museum pieces and when something is sourced, it is a quick turn to the Internet.
This morning I received a call from an out of state agent looking for a selling agent to work with for a client that was moving into their state.  It was not an area where I felt comfortable selling.  A few short years ago, I would have gone to the brand roster to try and find a qualified … (37 comments)

blogging recognition: Ringing and Singing in the Rain, Hello Bob Ratliff - 01/26/15 08:36 AM
Ringing and Singing in the Rain,  Hello Bob Ratliff
What a Challenge, get a few points for doing something that we often do on our own.  all a fellow Rainers and say hello then come back, censor the conversation and let the rest of the members know your impressions. That was the motive for reaching down south and finding Bob Ratliff in Cedar Park, Texas a suburb of Austin.  Bob has been a gracious commentor on my posts for a  while and I have been doing the same with his work.
Bob is a native of Texas, having been … (16 comments)

blogging recognition: Find a Way to Encourage a New Blogger - 01/14/15 10:04 PM
As I near my 7 year anniversary here on ActiveRain, I am most appreciative of the way this platform has educated and enhanced my business.  Along the way, it has also made for some great relationships as well, some so close to me and yet if not for ActiveRain, our paths my never have crossed.
I recall the hesitation to create that first blog post, and the fear that no one would ever find it to read, much less comment.
The number of members was considerably less back then, so a blog post would stay on the board a little linger, allowing for an opportunity to … (12 comments)

blogging recognition: ActiveRain Members Get Syndicated Press Exposure - 10/11/14 08:50 AM
One Never Knows Who will be Reading Your Blog
One of my family members gave me a call the other day to alert me to a reference to me in an article. I immediately had to think as to what I might have done lately that would have gotten me some notice.
The mention was in a syndicated article by Lew Sichelman of United Feature Syndicate.  While the particular article had just been picked up by our Hartford Courant titled How Many homes is too many in a Search, it had originally been published in the Charlotte observer in September.
The article was obviously on home buying and … (16 comments)
