fall colors: It's Definitely Fall in Connecticut - 10/05/23 09:45 AM
It's Definitely Fall in Connecticut
I had to take a drive up to the Northwest end of the state yesterday, and the sun shining on the trees forced me to stop and take a couple of photos.

As I was driving back to my home, I purposely made a detour through areas I knew would offer views of the rolling hills to see the stage of the colors.
Time to start my fall color progression at the golf course. I wonder if I can find something to do while I'm there as well.

fall colors: The Fall Colors Are Here In Central CT, Week 3 - 10/16/22 04:15 PM
The Fall Colors Are Here In Central CT, Week 3
It is deep into our fall colors and every drive is filled with a colorful roadway, or in the case of the photos I've selected, fairways.
The photo above was our 5th green at the end of September, very little in color.
The photo below was the week after, 10/09.
And a week later we have the photo below.
The color is bright and very much advanced from a week previous. The photo below is from the green looking back to the tee.
I also tool a couple of extra shots of the treelined fairways. There are … (15 comments)

fall colors: The Fall Colors are Trying to Come Out in Central CT, Part 2 - 10/09/22 01:57 PM
The Fall Colors are Trying to Come Out in Central CT, Part 2
There is no doubt that we are into the fall season and this morning we had our first frost. The colors on the trees are starting to really come out.
Last week, the colors surrounding the fifth green were just starting to show.
A weel later we really have a burst of color as well as a more bright and sunny day, albeit a little brisk at 40 degrees.
The colors are very noticeable along the roadways but it's hard to take a photo and drive at take a photo at the … (9 comments)

The Fall Colors are Trying to Come Out in Central CT
As I was making my way across the fairways over the weekend, I noticed hints f the trees getting ready to offer up their colors.
There were hints of color coming from the oak tree at the back of this green. Unfortunately, the day was overcast, courtesy of Ian's tail, but I am hoping that when we get a sunny day, it will show much better.
I have a view in mind that always impresses with colors and will try to do a modified presession just not to steal any of George Souto  … (11 comments)

The Fall Colors are Starting in Central CT
We have transitioned into the season of color known as Fall. Very quickly the trees will start their changes and fall foliage will be all around us here in Connecticut.
As I was walking with a client I noticed a spray of color at the base of an oak tree.
From a distance it looked like a cluster of mini pumpkins, but as I got closer it was a mushroom cluster and a color I had not seen before.
While they may look very tempting, i do know that the only mushrooms I would eat come in … (23 comments)

fall colors: It's The Time For Frost On The Pumpkin - 11/07/21 05:50 AM
It's The Time For Frost On The Pumpkin
We gained an hour but it also brought something else with it.  We are into the morning frost time of year.
Looking out at the trees and grass and there is definitely a tint of white to the tips. It is frost on the pumpkin time, but our pumpkin is gone but the dwarf maple in the front yard thinks it has to carry the saying.

For the first day in DST, this is a hard sign of a tough winter to come.

The Fall Colors Are Here In Central CT
We are appreciating the colors of fall with a great burst this past week.  We are not quite to peak as yet and with the rain that is supposed to fall this week the leaves may just fall and leave us with bare trees.

As I took my weekly walk across some open fairways, I took an occasional stop to share a bit of color as well.

fall colors: A Perfect Early Fall Day in Central CT Just Right for a Walk - 10/05/16 11:15 AM
Our temps this morning were in the low 40's and the trees are starting to show signs of changing colors.  It was a perfect fall morning and the walk we took was most pleasant with an occasional stop to admire the scenery and do some movement with my arms and legs.

It won't be long before the leaves make their transformation and fall, and the days will seem dull and dreary.

fall colors: It's Fall and the Colors will Appear all Too Soon - 09/25/16 10:58 AM
Just 4 days into the fall equinox and already we are into the early morning chills. At 7 AM as we were on the first tee it was a brisk 44 degrees.  As the sun came out and started to warm away the chills, the residual moisture on the grass and leaves started to shine.
With a careful check some changes are visible amongst all the leaves on the trees.  It won't be long before we are into full fall foliage.  It's predicted that we will have a very cold and snow filled winter.  I can wait until July for that white stuff to fall.

fall colors: It's Fall and it came on us Quickly in Central Connecticut - 10/11/15 11:25 AM
We are early into October and just a few short days ago we were into very warm weather.  I was in the parking lot of the Golf Course at Crestbrook waiting for our tee time and we were waiting due to a frost delay. Across the parking lot the season of Fall was very visible.

It seems that literally overnight the colors jumped onto the trees.  This morning, the frost was very visible on the grass, and the mist off the water gave it all an eerie sense.  It does seem to be an early color change and hopefully it doesn't mean as harsh a … (28 comments)

fall colors: Welcome Fall, Where are the colors? - 09/23/14 01:11 AM
We have made the transition into the fall with the passing of the equinox. From here on out the colors should begin their transition and in short order with the cool nights and lower temperatures Mother Nature will paint her canvas.
For now, however, the colors are still quite green and a quick walk of the yard showed just a slight blush of red in an otherwise very green oak.

Good thing I put out the MUMs for a bit of color to start the season.

Fall's Colors Have Peaked, but They were Spectacular

We have passed the peak foliage time for our New England fall. The colors this year seemed to be just a bit more colorful and brilliant. I have been enjoying them on my early morning walks through my golf course. If for nothing other than the open spaces and the hills, these nature walks can be uplifting.

I have taken these walk on a crisp afternoon with my wife, a non golfer, and she can appreciate the beauty we see and gives a better understanding of my times here.

fall colors: The Colors in Cheshire CT are just Spectacular . . . Sunday Photos - 10/21/12 03:25 AM
The Colors in Cheshire CT are Just Spectacular While driving past an open field in Cheshire CT this past week I was taken by the show Mother Nature had going. I stopped and grabbed the Nikon and just walked over. To me it was just beautiful. The oak trees had their brilliant red tones. The maples were bright orange, and the rest of the trees just set the stage.

Sometimes you just have to stop and appreciate the life around us.

fall colors: It Was A Wondeful Morning But Today was Peak . . Sunday Photos - 10/14/12 04:57 AM
It Was A Wondeful Morning But Today was Peak The Autumn colors hit peak this weekend, and there was enough brightness that they could be appreciated.

It is a beautiful time of year for the colors, and having an area to walk where it's peaceful and the scenery can be appreciated is even better. Not to mention a low score. The only issue will be that once I get home, it won;t be long before I see these colors needing to be raked and picked up. That is never nice

fall colors: The Autumn Leaves, They Start to Fall - 10/07/12 04:49 AM
The Autumn Leaves, They Start to Fall There was a haze in the morning, and as the sun started to burn it away, the colors started to show, and the view was just magic.

As we walked a little further, and the sun got a little higher, it was still a blaze of color. Still early in the season, but beautiful still.

The colors appear to be brighter this fall. Maybe all the late summer rains have something to do with it. This tree appeared to have just been touched by the fall, with the tips of the branches … (10 comments)
