Friday Flags: Welcome Back to Prospect CT
We enjoyed the escape for Connecticut to get some relief from the snow and the cold. We visited friends, and family; I got to play some golf, even shot my age on one of the courses in Hiton Head, and just relaxed.
We had gotten a huge drop of snow just before we left and as well had to run to the post office on the way out, I got a shot of the flag at McGrath park here in Prospect
The flag was flying bravely as we left and seemed to be saying it wished us … (15 comments)

friday flags in prospect ct: Friday Flags: The Snow Will Never Cover the Flag - 02/12/26 04:11 PM
Friday Flags: The Snow Will Never Cover the Flag
The scene was just too clean to not stop.
The frozen pond, the blanket of white almost 2 feet deep, and the solitary pole with the flag flying clear against the blue sky.
It was just a simple way to bring a little warmth to a cold February Day in Prospect CT

friday flags in prospect ct: Friday Flags: Show a Little Love for the Town Garage Flag - 02/01/26 09:00 AM
Friday Flags: Show a Little Love for the Town Garage Flag
We have had a difficult and very cold winter so far and it is not over yet. The town garage is active ahead of storms with the trucks getting prepared for the storms as well as residents going in to pull a pail or 2 of sand for walkways.
As I was pulling in it had shown a full wave, but when I got out of the car to take the photo it seemed to tease me and wanted me to spend some time there.
As I was getting ready to take the … (15 comments)

Friday Flags: The School Flag Caught my Attention
In our state, and many others as well, we make our property tax payments in 2 splits. The bills come out with cars and the first half of the real estate payment due in July, and the second half of the real estate payment is due in January.
I made my way to town hall to drop off the second payment and as I walked back to my car, something was trying to get my attention.
The flag in front of the Regional Middle School, Long Meadow was trying to get my attention.
I didn't want to … (17 comments)

Friday Flags: The Prospect CT Town Hall
Driving through town there were trees waving with the gusts. As I started to reach the town center, I noticed the flags in front of the Prospect CT Town hall.
There was a lot of wind as I was driving, but once I stopped, it seemed to disappear.
The looked so good with the American flag and the POW flag against the blue sky. I needed to wait and see if I could get lucky.
After 15 minutes, this is the best I could get, and I am wondering if it really blew once I drove out of … (14 comments)

friday flags in prospect ct: Friday Flags: Hotchkiss Field Flag Waving for Me - 01/14/26 05:28 PM
Friday Flags: Hotchkiss Field Flag Waving for Me
It has been a tough week, and I was not preprepared for this post. As I was making my way out of Prospect, I glanced over to the fields at Hotchkiss Field, and the flag was beckoning to me.
I turned around and went in, parked and started to make my way over to where the flagpole was, which was on the opposite of the park.
The wind had disappeared, and I felt I was going to be disappointed, but still, I had a streak to keep.
The wind returned and I got my shot. So far … (10 comments)

Friday Flags: Seasonal Lights with a Bonus
Holiday decorations are often beautiful and when a street is lit with the hos all showing their finery it is truly wonderful.
But all good things come to an end and early January is normally the time the time when the decorations get taken down to be brought up again in November.
Early this week, as I walked my road, I was looking to see what was still up an appreciated a sight that I just knew was only partially coming down.
I just had t get a better look, so I walked up the sidewalk.
I do know … (13 comments)

Friday Flags: The Prospect CT Post Office Waving Hard
Driving through town on my way in Waterbury I always pass the post office. This particular day the flags were really waving hard. I don't know if it was more than the wind, or just the wind gods giving me the shot I needed for the week.
The flag was just raised to full mast as the state was honoring the 25th anniversary of the Sandy Hook School shooting.
The second flag is for MIA's and POW's that was initiated in the 70's, many of them lost never to be returned.
It is a proud flag … (11 comments)

Friday Flags:  A Colorful Background for The Prospect CT Flag
Our fall colors this year have been very weak. As I was passing McGrath Pond in Prospect I had to stop as the breeze was moving.
There was still some color on the trees behind the pond, and aeration pump was working to keep the pond healthy.
I was also fortunate to get the shot as this area is sheltered and that flag doesn't blow that hard to get the flag moving.
These shots are aways special and the backgrounds are a bonus.

Friday Flags: Home Country In Top Position
Last year we vacationed in Portugal in September to visit family. It was a great time and most appreciative to enjoy all the first cousins on my father's side together.
Surprisingly, in the small town in the northern part of the country where we were staying, I found a US Flag on the same pole as the Portuguese flag.
Host county enjoys the top position.
Ironically, within the same month, a year later, I came across a similar style, with the US flag in priority position.
As I was taking the photos, the owner came out of the house … (18 comments)

Friday Flags: A Patriotic 4th of July in Prospect CT, 2025
We have a most appropriate Friday Flags, which coincides with the Birthday of our country. YAH!
Our small town is mostly residential with the requisite businesses.
It is the intersection of 2 state roadways, Rts 68, East & West and Rt 69, North and south.
The town intersection sits atop the highest point in town where the town hall is located.
Every utility pole for at least 1/2 mile coming into the intersection bears our flag, and on the day, I took this Friday Flag photo, the town hall flag said no reason to wait … (19 comments)

Friday Flags: A Union of Church and State in Prospect, CT
Our spring, from what I read has been like all else, with temperature extremes, a lot of rain and intermittent winds, and even a combination of all with a 48-hour span. It was no different early in the weekend.
As I was driving up one of the man roads in town, the lawn and flags on utility poles were appreciating the airing out by the winds.
A look down a long drive of a large church in town offered a view that just made it mandatory for me to turn around.
A I had seen … (12 comments)

Friday Flags:  A Double Flag of Support in Prospect CT
As I made reference to the spring winds in last week's Friday Flags post, it was a good time to take photos.
Located just off the town center, is the town pond and recreation area that also has a proud flagpole, and like its neighbor is somewhat sheltered.
McGrath pond is a manmade water pond, and it is also the pond that gets stocked with fish for the derby in the spring and one can see people fishing there all year trying to catch a few that managed to survive the onslaught of anglers.

Friday Flags: IT Support in Prospect CT
It's a time of year where spring is attempting to take hold. Part of that transition is the strong winds that blow nd in areas where the flag poles are a bit more sheltered, the wind wins, and so do I.
Thus, I was able to catch a shot of a flag proudly appreciate the airing out the wind offered in the front of a local IT company in Prospect, CT.
The company, Millennium Technology Solutions,  is an 24/7 IT support company that that has been in business for 30 years.

Friday Flags  At least A reason to Smile in Prospect, CT
Everyone loves a trip to the dentist office, right? Yes, for sure. At the very least, while getting ready for a visit, the sight on the way in was a quick reason to smile.
It wasn't too bad of a trip, and of course the flag was appreciative of the exposure as well.

Friday Flags:  Hotchkiss Field Prospect CT
The largest park in Prospect CT is located right off the main artery. Hotchkiss Field.
It gets a lot of attention for the athletic fields basketball courts, hockey area and the skate are.
People can be seen walking all over the track with cutoffs should they need to take a  break.
With the cold and snow, activity is down, but the flag is still flying high.  On a breezy day, I walked as far as I could as I didn't have boots, and took a shot.
It wasn't the best, and as it was still within the 30-day respect period … (12 comments)

Friday Flags A Final Half Mast Flag in Prospect CT
Just off the center of the town is a manmade lake, called McGrath Pond. and earlier in the day I went by to see someone fishing well off the bank.
The flag on the pole adjacent to the pond monument was still at half-mast also and while the wind was blowing it was not that strong and this pond is sheltered, but I still managed to get a decent shot.
It surely looks like winter and not the most hospitable area but the flag still managed to bring a pause for me to stop … (17 comments)

Friday Flags: A Patriotic Prospect CT Pizza Restaurant
As I make my runs through the area, I am always looking for a possibility of a flag for this Friday Flags series.
This week was also special for the National Pizza Week recognition.
So, it seemed so appropriate to combine the two, when I spotted the flag in front of Hometown Pizza in Prospect, CT.
It was midafternoon so it wasn't as crowded as it normally is, but they were still active with slices to go.
In a small town like Prospect, CT many of the businesses along the main roads do have their flag out front, … (17 comments)

Flags At Half Mast For Respect in Prospect CT 1.09.25
As our nation paid its last respects to a President that was always caring and may have been in office at the wrong time, which cost him a re-election, many wish for leaders that had half his heart, or did so much.
It ws a windy day in the Northeast and as I passed the Prospect town center, a flurry was noticed.
.
The burdens are huge, the noise is loud, but a peanut farmer from Georgia, left a large legacy.

Friday Flags:   Flag by Moonlight in Prospect CT
We had a full moon this week and as I was driving home early evening, I caught the flag waving on the town green.
Yes, I know proper flag decorum would have the flag being taken down at dusk and raised early morning, but this is not a military facility.
I wanted to get a shot of the flag with the full moon in the background.
First attempt, the moon was attuned but the wind wasn't.  So, I waited and got better results, but still not as well as I thought I could do.
The light at … (13 comments)
