inspired by nature: The Tricks Our Minds Can Play on Us . . Sunday Photos - 12/02/12 03:59 AM
The Tricks Our Minds Can Play on Us . . Sunday Photos As I sat in a chair, just taking a glance at the paper, my mind’s eye gave me an image of blue sky, blue-green water, pure white sand, and a tree, bent from the blow of a tropical breeze. It was a truly, relaxing and pleasant scene.

Then, my eyes focused, and my vision caught the reality of my surroundings. Barren trees, overcast sky and residual snow on the deck.

At the very least, I have the photos in the lap top of our vacation in … (7 comments)

inspired by nature: The Distractions during My Morning Walk . . . Friday Photos - 11/08/12 11:51 PM
The Distractions during My Morning Walk   . . . Friday Photos I scurried out this morning for a walk before my wife woke up. I thought I would take an exercise walk just because. The temperature home is a balmy 26F, my walk was in a slightly better 28C with a brisk breeze as well.
I had some wonderful scenery along the walk, with not a bit of snow to distract.

It was such a pleasant experience and I could blame anything I didn't so well on the location. Reality is a wonderful place to escape from … (13 comments)

Spring is Here and the New Arrivals are Active

While walking past a pond this morning, I spotted a couple of ducks swimming very close together. As I got closer, I was able to see why they were so close, as their hatchlings were also in the water with them.

There looked to be 5 little ones in the brood all swimming with mom and dad.

Sunday Photos . . It's Spring and the little ones are starting to move about
As I made the drive into Crestbrook Park this morning in a misty, drizzly fog, this Canadian geese couple were watching the little ones. They've been moving around for a couple of weeks now, and getting strong and bigger by the day.
It didn't matter to them that it had rained all night, and was raining when I took this photo.

We get at least one set of geese hatch-lings a year at the course, which is surprising as there are always many geese about. … (14 comments)

inspired by nature: The Blossoms are coming, Finally - 04/07/10 02:05 AM
We had a particularly difficult winter with the cold and snow. For some reason the flowers and shrubs in our yard have been a little slow in coming out. Yesterday as I started to do some cleanup, I had an opportunity to really see the yard, and I was really pleased to see the earth starting to wake up.

The dogwood at the top of the driveway is starting it's blossoms, which means the birds especially the hummingbirds will be around, but you need to look quickly to find them.
Also, the pachysandra at the base of my trees are … (11 comments)

inspired by nature: Inspired by Nature .. So Close, and Yet So Far - 07/28/09 03:03 AM
As I was coming away from taking the lock box off of my now closed listing at 406 Linkfield Rd in Watertown, Ct, it was taken by the views of farmland that is so close to the congestions of a large town. Here were the scenes of days gone by with the rolling pastures and open meadows people so seldom take the time to see or not even have the scenary to view.
Cows taking shelter to get out of the noon day sun or the approach of a mid summer storm?

A lone doe chewing on some fresh grass … (2 comments)
