It was the commencement of war for our Independence and while at times it seemed a loss cause, it ultimately was the spirit of freedom and a desire to be rid of tyranny that overcame the odds and shocked the world. It was the birthday of a country that would be recognized as the greatest country in the world. There are a limited number of towns having holiday fireworks displays for the July 4th celebration. In Middlebury, Lake Quassapaug Amusement Park will have their 3-D fireworks, weather permitting, on Thursday starting at 10:15 PM. Parking is $7 and 3-D glasses are $1 with proceeds being donated to Prevent Blindness.
Due the impending storms, Lake Compounce in Bristol CT has postponed its fireworks display to Friday, starting at 10.
