mother nature paints a canvas: 2024 Colors of Fall in Connecticut 2 - 10/12/24 03:45 PM
2024 Colors of Fall in Connecticut 2
This will be the second week of full colors on display and there was a noticeable difference from last week.
The location is in Watertown, CT at the Crestbrook Park Gold course, and I chose this location as the hills offer great vistas and as it is in Litchfield County, the weather is a bit cooler than my home location.
Maintaining the same sequence as last week:
The shot above is looking down from the tee on our 11th hole.  The photo below is looking back up towards the tee.

mother nature paints a canvas: 2024 Colors of Fall in Connecticut 1 - 10/04/24 12:24 PM
2024 Colors of Fall in Connecticut 1
We are into October and already there are some changes in the colors of the trees. The nights have been a bit cooler and it starts the change in the leaves.
I play in a Seniors Golf league in Watertown CT which is in Litchfield county. As it is the Northwestern part of the state it not only has the coolest temps, but also the hills make for a greater panorama for the colors.  Being on the gold cure just affords a better vantage point to see the trees without homes in the way.. The sacrifices … (24 comments)

mother nature paints a canvas: Transition to Fall 2024 in Watertown CT - 09/21/24 03:54 PM
Transition to Fall 2024 in Watertown CT
Today, Sept 22, 2024 marks the official transition to Autumn and in a short period of time, the colors around us will make themselves visible.
Still being warm and sunny, it was a shock to me this past week while playing my weekly round of golf with fellow seniors, to see a lone tree showing off for its neighbors.
Its calendar is definitely off and when the rest are strutting their styles, this will be barren.

mother nature paints a canvas: Watching the Transformation of the Colors of Fall - 09/27/14 12:33 PM
Waiting for Mother Nature to Paint her Canvas
We are into the fall season and the weather has been an extension of the summer with very little moisture and moderate temperatures.  The hills around our golf course are thick with hardwood trees and the colors are typically very bright reds and oranges. There has been little change as yet and as I was on the course early morning this week, I took a photo showing the trees for their current color.

If the opportunity presents itself, I will take the same shot over the next few weeks to show the … (15 comments)

mother nature paints a canvas: Blooms a Poppin' all Over Prospect CT - 06/02/13 07:16 AM
Blooms a Poppin' all Over Prospect CT

We're in a heat wave with temps in the 90's, less than a week after we had a mild frost. Now the plants and flowers around the yard are just poppin' with colors. The rhododendrons are in full color; the day lilies have started to bloom as have the 'jack-in-the pulpits.

We have a front hedge row of laurel that is a wall of white right now and quite attractive. In a few more days, the peonies and astilbes will bloom their pink blossoms and then we are left with the … (8 comments)

mother nature paints a canvas: Spring Finally Made it to My Little Piece of the World - 04/30/13 11:04 PM
Spring Finally Made it to My Little Piece of the World As I came home yesterday afternoon, I was took a few moments to appreciate the blooms that are up in the yard. Evidence has been there, but with a sunny sky, it was just more pronounced here in Prospect CT.

We have a lot of flower beds, and many flowering trees around the yard, and they are all in proud display. Not to be overlooked, however, the yard has also given me it's sign that the grass needs to be mowed as well.  I guess I have to take … (7 comments)

mother nature paints a canvas: Sunsets on Water are Always Special . . . Sunday Photos - 11/11/12 06:34 AM
Sunsets on Water are Always Special . . . Sunday Photos As we were on our way to dinner, we just had to pause as we walked along the shore as it was getting close to sunset. The sun was just starting it's descent and the colors were special.

We waited just a bit longer to appreciate the view and I think we were rewarded for just being there, as the final colors were more brilliant.

Sunsets on the water are always special, but when you're on vacation and you get to see this on a Carribbean view, it … (8 comments)

mother nature paints a canvas: The Colors in Cheshire CT are just Spectacular . . . Sunday Photos - 10/21/12 03:25 AM
The Colors in Cheshire CT are Just Spectacular While driving past an open field in Cheshire CT this past week I was taken by the show Mother Nature had going. I stopped and grabbed the Nikon and just walked over. To me it was just beautiful. The oak trees had their brilliant red tones. The maples were bright orange, and the rest of the trees just set the stage.

Sometimes you just have to stop and appreciate the life around us.

mother nature paints a canvas: It Was A Wondeful Morning But Today was Peak . . Sunday Photos - 10/14/12 04:57 AM
It Was A Wondeful Morning But Today was Peak The Autumn colors hit peak this weekend, and there was enough brightness that they could be appreciated.

It is a beautiful time of year for the colors, and having an area to walk where it's peaceful and the scenery can be appreciated is even better. Not to mention a low score. The only issue will be that once I get home, it won;t be long before I see these colors needing to be raked and picked up. That is never nice
