Prices are escalating and competition for a home is fierce, especially for first time buyers. It would be understandable that agents need to educate their buyers on the best way to attempt to buy a home. Expecting to negotiate a purchase to get a 'deal', as would have been done when inventory was far greater than demand, just does not work in a strong sellers market where inventory can be at a month or less. This Connecticut Real Estate Professional Has Ethics As a real estate professional I am bound by a Code of Ethics to conduct my business in a legal, honest and morally correct manner to my clients and my fellow real estate agents. It is a stylized way of keeping by the Golden Rule of 'Do Unto Others'. Every agent that belongs to the National Association of Realtors is bound by the real estate Code of Ethics. Our Obligation is to Inform and Protect At a listing presentation recently, there were a few statements made by the owner that had me cringing internally as the owners had not been treated very well by the agent that sold them their house. They bought their home over 20 years ago and for sure the regulations were not the same then as they are today. I could not speak to the regulations or procedures that may have been in place then. There is no question that there was a time when real estate agents had a bad reputation and were looked at much (41 comments)
