vacation planning: The Rainforests of Costa Rica - 02/18/23 02:23 PM
The Veragua RainForest of Costa Rica
Prior to making the run through the Panama Canal, we had a stop in Costa Rica at the port of Limon. There were a variety of excursions to partake, but we chose to visit a private Rainforest called the Veragua Rainforest.
A donation funded 2000 acre preserve that accounts for almost 30% of the fresh oxygen that serves the Central American lands.
The vegetation was dense and there were monkeys to be heard but not seen. Same with large flocks of toucans that would fly close but then disappear into the trees.
We rode the tram to the bottom … (17 comments)

vacation planning: Valentine's Day: Won't You Let Me Take You on a Sea Cruise - 02/14/23 06:20 AM
Won't You Let Me Take You on a Sea Cruise
Back in the day, there was a song about a sea Cruise, and at the time it didn't mean much to we young-in's.
It carried a special meaning this year as we took that sea cruise ad at the same time, I got to appreciate what was once considered a special wonder of the world: The Panama Canal.
Dawn at the harbor entrance to the canal zone and already ships were lined up to make the 10-mile trek to the Pacific Ocean.
It takes 8-10 hours to pass through the canal zone, but the trip … (18 comments)

vacation planning: Profiting From Vacation Rental Zoom Call with Brian England - 08/04/21 11:36 AM
Profiting From  Vacation Rental  Zoom Call with Brian England

The zoom call on Aug 3, featured Brian England who explained quite professionally the vacation rental service known as Vacasa, which was created by the need for a vacation rental home.  Casa being the Spanish name for house.
The founder of the company wanted to take his family on vacation sometime in 2007-2008. Being from the Washington state area, he was looking for a little more than a stay at a resort and decided this was a family vacation niche which needed a solution.
Vacasa seeks out rental property managers and encourages them to offer … (13 comments)

vacation planning: Hilton Head Island, SC a Fun place to spend Some Time - 03/13/16 01:34 PM
We recently took a few days to enjoy the early spring in Hilton Head Island SC. For someone like myself that gets the golf fever early, it was a chance to take off the rust and enjoy some time away.
Hilton Head, SC if a wonderful place to go and avoid some of the heavy activity found further north in Myrtle Beach , SC.
We enjoyed the time there and for me, the high-lite was the chance to get over to Harbor Town Links in the Sea Pines Plantation development.  This area alone is a wonderful testament to a person's vision.  It is a 5,200 … (10 comments)

vacation planning: At The End of the Day, We Get to Appreciate the Time Away - 03/10/16 10:09 PM
We have taken a few days off to recharge the batteries, and drove our way south through the Carolinas all the way to FL and home again.  We wanted to see some areas that had been our bucket list and in the car made the most sense.
Hilton Head Island in South Carolina is a place that I have always wanted to visit especially to play golf on some of their fine courses.
We were also fortunate to have a location on the water to appreciate the ocean at dusk.
All good things must come to an end, and even though we enjoyed ourselves, it's time to … (18 comments)

vacation planning: Keeping the Business Going While on Vacation - 11/05/13 08:16 PM
Keeping the Business Going While on Vacation
Real estate is a hands on business and to get a sale completed requires full attention to all aspects of the flow at all times. We never know when we will get our next contact and for some, and we still know that we need to take a break to recharge, and to stay connected to our families.
Taking a couple of days away and close to home is never the issue. Trying to take a longer break and better than a few hours away requires planning and a well organized departure from the business. … (7 comments)
