At the time of preparing this report there were 2793 single family homes on the market in the Greater Daytona area (MLS listings as of Oct. 19th, 2007) compared to just 2452 as of October 1st, 2006 (a 13.91% increase over 2006). Year to date there were 1193 sales of single family homes with an average sale price of $281,218. This compares to 1588 sales in the same period of 2006 with an average sale price of $292,347. Just thought it would be nice to see some good news for the Daytona Beach area rather then all the dismal news the local papers keep sharing with everyone. They keep writing articles with titles like: "Home prices take record hit", "Housing market reverses", "Existing homes sales still lag", "Housing boom has foreclosure hangover", "Home sales, prices tank; sellers scared", "Home sales outlook falls again", "Builders facing bankruptcy" just to name a few.
