Few days ago, a friend and I had decided to visit a photo exhibition about a married couple that were arrested and sentenced to one year in jail for violating the state's Racial Integrity Act 1958 in Virginia. This is all simply because they are not the same race. The husband, Richard Loving, was a white man ; the wife, Mildred Jeter, was African American and Native American. During the trial, the Virginia judge suspended the Lovings' sentence for a period of 25 years on the condition that they leave the State and not return to Virginia together for 25 years. … (12 comments)
