Yesterday was a sad day for the Liles' home. My father-in-law took his last breath at 3:15 yesterday afternoon. In the last couple of years, his health had deteriorated and now he was a frail picture of who this man was on the inside. Pete Liles was a real cowboy...not the kind that just dresses in boot and a hat. This good man was 80 years old and except for an eighteen month stint of carpentry in California back in the late 50's, spent most all of the days of his life taking care of cattle, usually horseback. The Town of Cedaredge, Main Street in particular, is like much of small town America. Our Main Street could use a facelift...actually the face looks pretty good, but the lower body parts need some "work". Tim Roberts, former Public Works Director, is heading up the Main Street Improvement Project and recently revealed a conceptual drawing of what the new Main Street could look like. Wow! Is it cool! Wide sidewalks, center drive-thru parking, lovely streetlights - just so exciting! I'm sure this is true in many small communities around the country. But Cedaredge is my home, I love Cedaredge and want to fix this problem. Oh, yea, we have a weekly county newspaper, even another one here in Cedaredge, but some people don't read the paper.
