Palos Verdes home owners know that summer is a great time for their children to relax and simply read a story (and put down the electronics). All of our local libraries have been participating in the Summer Reading Program for years and school age children love the weekly events that each of the branches offers during the month. These activities feature music, magic and cool crafts. It's not too late to join and this program continues until August 23, 2015. The internet has given us the ability to learn about our ancestors and Genealogy is one of the fastest growing hobbies in the United States. Internet accessibility seems to be luring us into the past whether it be to learn about extended families, or who lived in my house before me, or just when did my family arrive in this country. The Palos Verdes Library District is giving Palos Verdes homes owners the opportunity to return overdue library books on Friday, January 27, 2012, with a waiver of fees. This “get out of jail free” card can be utilized by visiting a library service desk at any of the three Palos Verdes libraries. Palos Verdes homes owners are once again able to enjoy more free local services. Beginning May 1, Palos Verdes Library District has teamed up with Freegal, a free music download service, and library users have access to the entire Sony music catalog. The Sony music collection is one of the largest and contains genres from classical to country, popular to movie soundtracks.
