midtown agent: When First Choice Turns Into a Second Choice Agent - 08/16/15 02:05 AM
It seems I get a number of listings in Sacramento in which I am the second agent when the seller had the opportunity to hire me as the first agent but thought he could get the job done more cheaply. I try not to let those situations bother me because I realize that sometimes, no matter how well I explain why I am worth my fee, some people refuse to believe it until they find out later why they were wrong.
It's OK, though. I'll still take the listing under those circumstances.
The circumstances in which I won't pursue a listing is when … (12 comments)

midtown agent: If You Live near Midtown Sacramento, You Probably Need a Bicycle - 07/15/13 01:24 AM
It wasn't that I started out my Sunday with the intention of buying a bicycle, but the idea has been floating around in my head for a while. About a year, actually. I've just been too busy being a top-producing Sacramento real estate agent to give that idea room to breathe and flourish.
Before you say anything, let me add that in some ways it can be a good idea to spend a great deal of time gathering pieces of information that one doesn't really absorb but simply hauls upstairs to the attic. I tend to compartmentalize thoughts and put them … (10 comments)

midtown agent: Trying to Buy a Home in Sacramento Can Be Very Frustrating for Home Buyers - 02/07/10 01:57 AM
Whenever I leave the comfort of my home-based office, I try to plan my driving route to incorporate stops along the way so I can maximize my time. For example, if I need to drop off dry cleaning, I'll do it on my way to my midtown Lyon Real Estate office, rather than make a separate trip to the dry cleaners. That explains why I never have anything to wear.
Because I had to drive out the 99 freeway yesterday to put a lockbox on another Elk Grove short sale listing, I figured I'd stop at a few furniture stores on … (9 comments)

midtown agent: How Elizabeth Weintraub Shows Homes in Land Park and the Sacramento Core - 01/22/10 01:06 AM
I'm often amazed when I receive an out-of-the-blue offer for a listing, meaning the buyer's agent has not made prior contact with me. It's sort of like they figure that buying a home in Sacramento is on par with flipping through a Macy's catalog. Photographs and the sales price of a home tell only part of the story. There is always a story.
This weekend, I'm showing homes in Land Park, Midtown, East Sacramento and Carmichael to several sets of home buyers. I work with buyers based on the homes that they want to see and the homes that I think … (13 comments)

midtown agent: Do You Do Things Because You've Always Done Them or Because You Want To? - 01/10/10 01:02 AM
Some people would say that when a person looks back on the path one's life has taken and decides to make changes, it's because one has reached a "certain age." Personally, I disagree, probably because I'm the type of person who often reflects on the direction I am moving and wonders if that direction is the road best taken. For example, those reflections are the reason I ended up in Sacramento.
But I am also a creature of habit. I suspect to some extent we all are. You may head to Starbucks each morning to get a latte. Because that's what … (20 comments)

midtown agent: Sacramento SureWest Customers Get Free Upgrade for High-Speed Internet, HBO Free - 06/17/09 02:09 AM
After talking with several newspaper reporters yesterday, I returned to my home office chair to find a flyer sitting on it. My initial reaction was: "What is this crap my husband put in my chair?"  That's because he doesn't ordinarily put crap in my chair. But he does deliver every piece of junk mail addressed to me that he finds in the mailbox, which has its pluses and minuses.
This direct mail piece from SureWest fell into the plus category. It says that loyal SureWest customers in Sacramento have been upgraded, absolutely for free, from 10 Mbps / 10 Mbps to … (8 comments)

midtown agent: My Land Park Neighbor Says the First Bloom of Spring is Magical - 05/10/09 02:07 AM
The worst thing that could happen to my Land Park neighbor, she says, is to be out of town when our gardens produce the first blooms of spring. We have a good 3 weeks to enjoy showy, spectacular flowers from the end of April to early May. And as luck would have it, my neighbor was out of the country when it happened this year.
I never gave much thought to the first bloom before and had no idea it was considered a special occasion.  I can be so focused on selling homes in Land Park that I sometimes don't notice … (9 comments)

midtown agent: Midtown Sacramento OfficeMax Has Ergonomic Microsoft Keyboards on Sale for $39 - 05/07/09 02:45 AM
As you're reading this, you may think, "Oh, no, she dumped another cup of coffee into her keyboard again." I do this about twice a year. But I did no such thing. Unless my cat sneaked up on my desk and puked on it when I wasn't looking. Nope, this time I was just typing along when all of a sudden a bunch of 8's started to appear within my words. Like something out of the Twilight Zone.
I changed out the batteries for my keyboard and mouse. Still 8's. Shoved the keyboard aside and plugged in my Apple keyboard. The … (10 comments)

midtown agent: How to Be in 3 Places at the Same Time and Sell Sacramento Real Estate - 04/23/09 04:04 AM
My husband asked me to go with him next month to his 25th college reunion at Washington University in St. Louis, but I don't have the time to get away. Alas, he will have to attend without me. He tried to sweeten the pot by saying we could catch up with his family in Chicago or mine in Minneapolis afterward, but I have too many commitments to my sellers and buyers in Sacramento.
In fact, my Sacramento real estate business has exploded to the point where I need more help, so I have assembled a team of experts to assist me. … (16 comments)
