Part of what makes a person a successful real estate agent is learning how to read other people and adapt to their needs. Not everybody is the same. A client implied a few days ago that I have other sources of income primarily because I am a real estate broker. It occurred to me how little the public knows about the real estate profession. They talk to friends who feed them misinformation. Being a real estate broker means I am held to a higher standard of knowledge, which can result in a higher level of personal liability, actually. Sometimes you can change your viewpoint depending on where you sit. Think back to grade school, for example. When the class monitor was called, it was probably done alphabetically, which means the kids with a last name starting with A were called first. While the California Housing Financing Agency is adjusting its Keep Your Home California program by now letting those homeowners who have refinanced or taken out loans originating after 2009 to apply, you sort of the get the idea that CalHFA is having a hard time finding anybody who really wants to keep a underwater home. They say more than 2,000 are receiving help but they don't say how many have been approved for the program. It seems that lately most of my short sale listings in Sacramento are either located in Elk Grove, Natomas, Lincoln or Roseville / Rocklin areas. I do get a few in Land Park and East Sacramento since those are the areas I know the best, but I don't really need to be a neighborhood specialist to sell out of my local area. A TV station in Omaha paid $266,500 for Roy Rogers' stuffed horse Trigger but how much can you get for a used dishwasher? $50, maybe? Burglars recently swiped a lockbox from one of my short sale listings in Natomas and made off with the sellers' appliances. They removed the gas range and oven, dishwasher and built-in microwave. So much for putting the lockbox on the gas meter. The thugs must have cut it off. You'd think a neighbor would have noticed somebody out there with a reciprocating saw.
