ocicat: How Loud Does Your Cat Purr? - 03/31/11 04:35 AM
There's this cat in London who purrs as loud as a lawnmower. His name is Smokey. This cat purrs at 73 to 80 decibels. depending on which news report you read. If I had a cat like that, I'd kick him out of bed. Heck, I'd banish him to the garage. Or at the very least, I'd make sure I never petted him unless I wore earplugs.
Like all short sales are different, all cats purr differently. My cat who died last December, Brandon, had a very loud purr. He used to sit on the bench near me at the breakfast … (10 comments)

ocicat: Men are From Seattle, Women are From Hawaii and Here's a Fair Oaks Short Sale - 07/23/10 03:48 AM
A small ocicat, at the moment, is curled up into a tight ball in my lap. She knows that making herself very small is the only way to sit on me while I am typing which, for whatever reason, she absolutely must do at this very moment. Who knows what goes through the mind of a cat? She came into the bedroom this morning at 4:00 AM and meowed at me. Twice. She rules the other cats, both of which are much bigger than she and male.
I had considered writing a post about the differences between men and women -- … (4 comments)

ocicat: Sacramento County Tax Assessor is Not Required to Send a Bill for 2nd Half Taxes - 05/14/10 02:53 AM
And yet a third country heard from. Whenever I take a break during my day to pet one of my male cats, it's almost a given that my little female ocicat will come running to demand attention. She's quite vocal about it, too. That's because she rules the house. Which is not unlike many other households shared by humans.
The adage is if mama ain't happy, nobody is happy.
I keep that in mind when communicating with my clients. Because in any given relationship, there is typically a balance of power. You might think this is sexist but it's not, really. … (8 comments)

ocicat: Newest Driveway in Land Park, Check It Out! Here's an Ocicat, Too. - 09/25/08 03:00 AM

Day three, and the driveway is finished. What do you think about that chain-link gate? I'm thinking ornamental ironwork, an electronic gate that swings open, might be a good solution. It's not that I really need a gate, because we don't have a dog, but without it, I can't really enclose the back yard and keep out the wildlife -- all those wild moose and donkeys in Land Park, you know.
My neighbor seemed disgruntled that he was required to turn off his sprinklers for a day. His sprinklers should not be spraying my property anyway, but I never complain … (7 comments)

ocicat: My New Land Park Driveway - Part I - 09/23/08 05:52 AM

Hey everybody, it's home improvement time again. It has been almost two months since I've tackled a project around the house, you know. All the homes in Land Park on my street have new driveways. Mine was beginning to look like an eyesore, cracking and heaving. Plus, we had a brick patio against the house (where we keep our trash can and recycling can), which would pool with water every time it rained. It made sense to pour new cement over the entire area and grade it away from the house.

My driveway is longer than those you'll … (5 comments)

ocicat: How Do Cats Survive a Remodel? Take a Look at Pia! - 07/30/08 02:02 AM

I have 3 cats. Or rather, 3 cats own me. One has kidney disease, and he just turned 17. He's a grumpy old cat, but I love him to pieces. He was flown to Sacramento from Minneapolis, and he almost missed the flight because ground temperatures can't exceed maximums on arrival, and we all know hot Sacramento can be in the summer. He's lived here six years now.The other two are Ocicats. I got Pica from a breeder in Orange County. She was ready to let him go because he was marbled, and only spotted Ocicats can be shown. I … (13 comments)
