naming your house: Should I "name" my home?

I often see homes with special signs besides the address, that calls out a "name" for the home. Some are personal or may refer to something special about the property, like "FOX HILL"(a home on a hill where a fox is often spotted) or "Hill Top"(also a home that sits on a hill). There are also historic or period homes with creative names that refer to them. For instance a very decorated 1888 Victorian in Sea Cliff, NY, is called "The Greatest Painted Lady".
