Second mortgages on Nashville homes are used by people who need to access the equity of their home. It is a rather big commitment but it can also offer you relief of stress and be financially advantageous. Here is some information to help you decide if a second mortgage on your Nashville home is right for you.

What is a Second Mortgage?

Catch Up With The Joneses

8 Must Do Upgrades To Get Your Home Out Of The 80’s

We update our wardrobe to keep up with the latest fashions and we prefer to drive new or late model cars. So why not instill the same philosophy when it comes to your home? Don’t get me wrong the 80’s was a great era for big hair and acid wash jeans but not so much for interior design. Keeping your home updated is vital if you ever plan on putting your house on the market.  So if you’ve been putting it … (48 comments)

nashville homes: Nashville Area Oak Hill Home Sales: June 2009 Market Report! - 07/20/09 04:49 AM
The booming month of June 2009 proved to have only two closings in the Oak Hill area of Nashville, TN.  One of them is a bit misrepresented here on the Comparable Market Analysis Chart and I will disclose the reason.  Have a look at the closings first, though:

Despite the fact that the Omandale Drive house says that it has been on the market only 134 days, it has actually been for sale since its construction was complete in December of 2007.  The price on it had also adjusted approximately $100,000.  Choke!
While I seem to be having no … (0 comments)

There are currently 45 properties on the market in Nashville's Oak Hill subdivision, ranging in price from $320,000 to $5,950,000.  Four of these 45 properties have contracts on them.  So things are looking up!
If you are a resident of Oak Hill or if are new to Nashville and don't know anything about the Oak Hill area, I welcome you to check it out!  It's where I choose to live myself, although I'm … (0 comments)

nashville homes: More Bad News???!!! Greater Nashville Association of Realtors Says Yes. - 03/09/09 07:18 AM
The numbers are in for February 2009 - Middle Tennessee/Greater Nashville Area's Real Estate Market -
Check out the data HERE!
Although these numbers show improvements from January 2009, still the sales are down 33% from this time last year...

Median prices were also down from $168K to $160K on single family residences and from $154K to $151K on condos.
Sorry, everybody, I wish I had better news.  Really I do.
I have to say, though, with the nicer weather on its way and the Economic Stimulus Package now in place, I am feeling positive about the spring/summer/early fall season!

nashville homes: The Word about the new Whitney Condo Complex in Nashville's Green Hills is DETAILS! - 09/16/08 06:21 AM

And, of course, it really should be, given the listing price range of $634,000 to $1,128,000.
So let me give you a sneak peek of what you will find when you visit:

Covered parking garage, wrought iron balcony, very grand entrance to the building.
Right from the start, you notice the details:

 Custom Doors...

Marble Fireplaces in Each Unit Imported from Italy...

nashville homes: We Heard the Bad News, Now Here's the Good News for Nashville Home Buyers! - 09/16/08 05:46 AM
Last night, I watched the National Evening News and it seemed almost surreal as they were describing the three big companies falling apart.  The DOW dropped 504 points and they were talking about long term recovery issues.  STOCK MARKET CRASH!!!!
<p>
I could not help but think to myself that really this does not affect me very much.  I will still get up and go to work the next day and continue to do so probably until I am dead.  It won't keep me from leaving some money in stocks and maybe even buying some now.  (Buy low, sell high).

nashville homes: My Wiener Dog Wants to Know... - 09/11/08 01:24 PM
"WHY ARE YOU GONE SO MUCH NOW!?!?!?!"
This little wiener dog, Charisma by name, is the center of my universe.  She was my first canine out of college and has been with me for almost 12 years now.  She has been through a marriage (mine, not hers), a divorce (also mine), four different houses, and has out-lived her companion and cohort "Tadpole the Wiener Dog" by almost two years.
(Tadpole pictured below - we miss you buddy!)

But since I joined ActiveRain, Charisma has a new complaint:  I am NEVER home because I am so busy with WORK!!!

nashville homes: Nashville's Night Out - Patron's Party at the Parthenon Raising Money for New Orleans! - 09/03/08 08:02 AM
WARNING, WARNING, WARNING:  This blog entry is going to be LONG (for me) and potentially extremely heartfelt!!!
New Orleans, Louisiana is a place that is close to my heart.  I went to college in Louisiana - not in New Orleans - but in Shreveport, the northwest corner of Louisiana.  Louisiana folks would say that Shreveport is more like Texas because of its close proximity to the Texas border and its location which is several hours away from New Orleans.
For me, however, Shreveport was a COMPLETELY different world after having grown up in Nashville, Tennessee.  Nashville is fairly liberal (don't knock … (0 comments)

nashville homes: Want to Know How Much to Spend on Your Green Hills / Lipscomb Area Remodel? PART 1 - 08/24/08 02:11 PM
We are all aware of it.  We are all living in it and with it.  What is IT?
THE HOUSING CRISIS!!!

Now fortunately (if you live in the Lipscomb area of Green Hills), our Davidson County market has held fairly steady with maybe just a slight decline in price value - especially in the non-remodeled homes.
So, whether you are planning on staying in your home for a while or if you are wanting to put your house on the market and get the highest value possible, a remodel is a good idea.
BUT WAIT!!!
Not just ANY remodel will … (0 comments)
