Carter Woodson, a 15-year old pianist, performs at the CASA Event in Lewisburg, WV

CASA hosted its third annual "A Child's Hope" benefit wine and cheese reception on Friday, April 24th at the Cooper Gallery in Lewisburg, West Virginia.
This year the event featured a performance by young pianist Carter Woodson, a ninth grade student at Greenbrier East High School (GEHS), Lewisburg, West Virginia. 
 
Britt Ludwig, CASA President, introduced Carter who played a collection of Chopin Preludes.




Carter's music teacher Mr. Philip Fife says that Carter is self motivated and excels in both his academic and music studies. Carter studies piano and organ with Mr. Fife, and plays marimba in the GEHS band.  What is a marimba ?

Carter participated in the 2008 West Virginia Solo and Ensemble Festival and received a superior rating for his performance of the Hungarian Dance by Brahms on the Marimba. He also played marimba in the 2008 regional honor band and the WV Youth Orchestra.
In the 2009 festival, he received a superior rating for his performance of the "Raindrop Prelude on the piano.  Carter is a member of the Old Stone Ringers Bell Choir and an active participant in the Old Stone Presbyterian Church Youth Choir.
