According to the WSJ---"why email no longer rules"
The WSJ journal today had a great section on technology. It blew me away with the lead article, why email no longer rules. The real meat of the story was that  facebook and twitter  (et. al.)do a far better job pushing out the communication. On those sites you do not even need to respond to the situations you pose or discuss. The socail netwroking sites give you access to so much more.
I just find it fascinating how many professionals in our indutry barely read their email let alone ustilze the zocial networking sites. How many leaders have the admins read the email first or have PR departments post. Now that action may even be dead or becoming passe.
In one recent client relationship I kept getting friend requests from a client who never posted themselves, negating the value of thier social capitol. This same person barely ever read their own email. The smart phone they carried was a mystery to them. The had one but for what purpose?
