Today marks the Winter Solstice, 2009
Today marks the Winter Solstice for 2009.  What this means for us in the Pacific Northwest is that the sun rises at 7:55 a.m. and sets at 4:20 p.m., which gives us just 8 hours, 25 minutes and yes, 15 seconds of daylight on this day.
The Winter Solstice is full of tradition and history dating back to ancient times.  I for one am glad to be back on the upswing into
the daylight for 2010 - leaving the darkness behind us for another year.
I took this photo last week.  What you see glowing is the Columbia Tower, downtown Seattle, 18 miles from where I am.  This building is 73 floors tall and has a fantastic views as you might imagine.  Membership to The Tower Club has its advantages.
You do not have to be a member to enjoy the festivities, they are having a New Years Eve Party that is open to members and non-members alike.
Make your Winter Solstice a memorable one!
Julie
