Here are preliminary numbers for January 2010 in comparison to the 5 previous years. These numbers answer the very common question, “How is your real estate market?”
It continues to take longer to sell a home than in the previous 5 years. The number of homes sold during January 2010 (as of 01/31) was the lowest number sold in January during the last 5 years. At this point, January 2010 (as of 01/31) is the only year the Avg Sell $ is lower than the Med Sell $. The dollar volume in January 2010 (as of 01/31) is 70.6% down from 2007, the highest dollar volume year in this reporting period. The dollar volume in January 2010 (as of 01/31) is 33.4% down from 2009.
