What does it cost to burn a bulb for a year?
Did you know that a 100 watt incandescent bulb left burning one year would cost about $87 and an equivalent fluorescent bulb of 13watts ( same amount of lumens ) would be $21 for the year. Fluorescent bulbs may cost more ( about $8 ) but they can last for 10000+ hours versus about 750 hours for a regular bulb. I use a fluorescent to work by. It's a daylight fluorescent which has a broader spectrum and is less eye strain. It costs more, but it's worth it. If every American home replaced just one light with an ENERGY STAR light, we would save enough energy to light more than 3 million homes for a year, about $700 million in annual energy costs, and prevent 9 billion pounds of greenhouse gas emissions per year, equivalent to the emissions of about 800,000 cars. Isn't that amazing ! Barry Smith, Keller Williams Realty, St Petersburg, FL FLRealtorBarry@aol.com 727-773-6677
