However, after having succumbed to a barrage of various crimes and mayhem, it experienced a "rebirth" when Langford was incorporated in 1992. With the incorporation, the city made a concerted effort to revitalize the area, undertaking civic improvements which have attracted new growth and business development. Among the improvements are the renovation of the business centre, construction of new roads, and creation of a special destination, the Bear Mountain Golf Resort.
