Casta del Sol and Palmia Two of  Mission Viejo's finest  55+ retirement communities:
Mission Viejo is a great city whose roots trace back to 1769, and was the intended - although not fulfilled - home of the Mission San Juan Capistrano.  This city of history and charm is a great place to retire and boasts clean air, low crime, temperate climate and low rainfall...all things that are important to think of when looking for a place to buy retirement real estate.
There are several 55+ communities in the city of Mission Viejo. The first that comes to mind is Casta del Sol, which contains approximately 2000 homes in a traditional style, within walking distance to both Lake Mission Viejo and a beautiful Executive 18 hole golf course.   Another community that springs to mind is Palmia with its traditional southwestern style architecture, it gives a nod to the history of Mission Viejo. 24 hour guard-gated entrance to both of these complexes provides seniors with much needed peace of mind plus seniors enjoy golf discounts.
