New I 575 Interchange coming to Woodstock GA
It looks like the finish line is finally in site for the I-575 Rope Mill Road interchange in Woodstock GA.  According to the Cherokee Ledger, the Georgia DOT has awarded Marietta-based C.W. Mathews a $17 million contract to construct the interchange- work may begin in April but must be completed by the end of 2012.  In addition to the interchange, the project involves building auxiliary lanes between Rope Mill and Towne Lake Parkway.
The new interchange should bring new life to commercial and residential development in the Ridgewalk area, which now includes only residential development.  Bill Butler of Ridgewalk Holdings LLC currently is the largest landowner, controlling 200 of the roughly 400 acres of the development.  Butler is currently working thru a Chapter 11 filing and hopes to present a new marketing and development plan for his acreage after re-emerging from the filing.
Another large landowner, Atlanta-based Cousins Properties, initially planned an upscale "The Avenue" development near the interchange but is now working with an outlet mall developer on the land they control.
