Waterville Valley, NH: Small Town, Big City Municipal Services
Waterville Valley Resort is a small town.  A VERY small town.  The sign at the entrance to our resort community proudly proclaims, "Population 305."  For such a small New Hampshire town, Waterville Valley offers municipal services that would rival any big city in the country.  Waterville Valley was the first community in New Hampshire to create a multi-disciplined department of public safety, which is tasked with all police, fire, and emergency medical functions within the town.  This means that all full-time personnel are required to be trained and state certified as police officers, firefighters, and emergency medical technicians.  The Town of Waterville Valley continues to have the only exclusive, full-time, Public Safety Department in New Hampshire.  The town is served by 12 public safety officers, an administrative assistant, call personnel, per diem workers, and volunteers.  The Waterville Valley Department of Public Safety is utilizing the latest technology to offer a new communications service that allows it to send important community information directly to community members.The Nixle Community Information Service allows the Waterville Valley Department of Public Safety to deliver messages to subscribed citizens instantly via cell phone text message, email, or online at Nixle's website.  Messages might include community events (like ... more
