One way to keep pigeons off your roof
I bought my home new in 1991.  I soon realized that pigeons seem to like new construction.  There are 11 homes on my lane and I would count 10 to 15 pigeons on each roof.  What I am going to say next isn't an understatement, pigeons are a mess!
It wouldn't be unusual for me to climb up on my roof a couple of times a week with a hose and broom.  The droppings those rats with wings birds left behind were an eyesore.  Whenever the pigeons would try to build a nest, I would sweep it off the roof.
My neighbors and I talked about how we could get the pigeons to leave.  The neighbor to my right decided to hang a fake owl from an eave.  The pigeons liked to sit on the owl's head.  Then my neighbor had a professional come out and tack netting to his roof.  The professional caused my neighbor's roof to leak.
