Elkhart County, Indiana Tax Bills In Mailbox Includes A Homestead Exemption Form You Must Fill Out and Return or Loose Exemption
Wake up Elkhart, in the Property Tax Bills just mailed there is a pink slip regarding your Homestead Exemption.  If you don't fill it out and mail it in, you will loose your exemption.  This will cause your property taxes to raise, and your Mortgage Lender will raise your payment...
Even if you just closed on your loan within the last month or two, you must fill out this form and send it in to prevent your loss of the Homestead Exemption.  You have until 2013 to turn it in, but will you remember it then?  I think not, it is much better to send it in now.
