Schuylkill County Hiking Trails
Appalachian Trail -- The AT wanders through Schuylkill County and there are several places where you can pick up a section along the Blue Mountain.
- off Routes 645 and 501 south of Pine Grove
- from Route 183, between Summit Station and Shartlesville (Berks)
- off Route 61 at Port Clinton, from Hawk Mountain Road between Drehersville and Kempton (Berks)
- off Route 309 between the village of Snyders and Schnecksville (Lehigh)
 
Swatara State Park -- Swatara is located west of Pine Grove and features an awesome fossil pit and a section of the Appalachian Trail. It features a two-mile trail that includes stretches of the old canal towpath.
Frog Hollow Environmental Education Center -- Frog Hollow is a 28-acre forested preserve by the Upper Little Swatara Creek in Freidensburg, PA. Trails are open seven days during daylight hours only. Fall is a wonderful to take a walk in Frog Hollow along the Woodland Walkway, Creekway Walkway or the Wildflower Walkway. To get there, take Route 443 west from Schuylkill Haven, towards Pine Grove. Turn right at the Friedensburg County Store (just after the Post Office). Left at the stop sign, and watch for signs on your right.
