The Oneonta Gorge… At one time was the gateway for cars to the east


Prior to the 1940’s this bridge and tunnel were the path that cars took east and west before bigger, better roads were built and eventually Interstate 84 was put in. In the 1940’s though, before ways to shore up the safety issues, they had to close the tunnel because of falling debris. Today it has been re-opened as safe as ever as a hiking trail along the historic Columbia Gorge Highway.

If you are up for a good hike, there are many, many hiking trails in the Gorge that are beautiful with plants, animals and amazing waterfalls. (So bring your camera)
