Masterworks with the Fort Wayne Philharmonic

This Saturday February 12th at 8pm in the Embassy Theatre the Fort Wayne Philharmonic will be presenting two works in their Masterworks series.  Beethovens Piano Concerto #5 more popularly known as the "Emperor Concerto" and Sir Arthur Edward Bliss' symphony entitled A Colour Symphony will be performed.
The following description of this concert entitled "Musical Pageantry" is attributed to the Fort Wayne Philharmonic website.
Beethoven's giant of piano concertos, and his last, features William Wolfram in this powerful and heroic piece. In contrast, Bliss' first major work for orchestra, A Colour Symphony celebrates the symbolism of colors with fluency, beautiful textures and dramatic pageantry. As Andrew Constantine says himself, "a fabulous symphony I can't wait to introduce to Fort Wayne!"Pianist William Wolfram joins the Phil for this Masterworks program, performing the Beethoven's great fifth concerto-a heroic work written as Beethoven's Vienna was under siege and occupation.  This program is titled "Musical Pageantry" and our second work, Bliss's A Colour Symphony, is based upon pageantry-literally.  This work, played for the first time in Fort Wayne, evokes the traditional colors of knightly heraldry, and qualities of those colors.
