What's in a Neighborhood?
 Want a home in "The Center"? Or "Bishop's Corner"? Perhaps "West of Mountain Road" is more your style?  Or maybe even in "Elmwood"?  It seems that when buyers are searching for homes in West Hartford, it's all about the neighborhood.  Simply ask someone where they live and they'll give you the street address. If you don't recognize the street, they'll quickly follow up with, "Oh, it's in the Morley district" or "it's in Norfeldt".  But for those who are unfamiliar with the various intricacies of the the town it can be difficult to know exactly what that means.
Here's a quick summary of the West Hartford neighborhoods.  A West Hartford neighborhood primer, if you will:
"The Center" - This term gets thrown around a lot in our MLS since homes in "The Center" have the advantage of a high walkability rating.  This area basically covers a grid surrounding the intersection of Farmington Avenue and North Main Street about 3/4 mile in each direction.  Homes in these neighborhoods tend to be older Colonials and Cape Cod style homes (1920's - 1940's) situated close together (i.e., smaller yards), have sidewalks, and are within close proximity to shopping and dining in West Hartford Center and Blue Back Square.  Homes in ... more
