Property Personalities Can Be A Good Thing
Over the years I have learned a lot about "property personalities." I have managed a variety of property types, including condominium conversions in California to market apartments and Section 8 housing in Arkansas. While rents vary among these property types, one thing holds true across the spectrum: properties become homes to the people who live there.
Property personalities are formed by the various tenants who reside in the complex. Senior housing will have different needs and wants than the apartments full of college students, young families, or singles.
Here are the different personalities I have encountered in my property management journey:
The Party Personality
The Complaining Personality
The Do Everything For Me Personality
The Reclusive Personality
Each personality presents its own set of challenges to the property manager.
These personalities may seem negative at first glance, but they all contribute to the overall makeup of the housing community they live in. With a little consideration and patience from a good property manager, these personalities can have a positive and healthy fit that makes tenants happy to call the complex a home.
