On today's turmoil of the housing crisis it is nice to know that other volunteer their time to devote to those who may be in less fortunate positions. Andrea looks like you are reaching out to those who are in need of help in the most basic ways and I commend you for you actions. Georgia has been certainly hit very hard and the good folks such as yourself id helping make life better. 
Nicholas House is a non-profit agency located in Atlanta that helps homeless families transition to a stable home. Unfortunately circumstances arise that cause families to lose their home and that's when Nicholas House steps in to provide transitional housing. One of the goals of Nicholas House is to keep families intact during this transitional phase. They provide counseling and other support services including teaching and promoting life and parenting skills. Since 1982, Nicholas House has helped 1500 families transition from homelessness. Latest Census figures report that 26,000 people are homeless in Atlanta. Georgia also ranks 49 out of 50 on child homelessness.
