Holidays at our place can be interesting times.
Holidays at our place can be interesting times.Christie is firmly entrenched in American traditions - I fit in Australian observances where I can. With family spread all over, and being of mature age, we are mostly by ourselves for holidays. Never fear, we observe, party or celebrate in our own twosome way. Cooking is a big feature, each offering comments or advice on the other's efforts (asked for or not, mostly gratuitous).Today is a bit different. We have an afternoon invitation to a gathering to observe Memorial Day with a client's extended family. Mostly we decline invitations to private houses because of access problems for my chair, or I send CL by herself. Today's invitation came with these things already considered and planned for.In our effort to add to the food side of things, CL and I went into prolonged discussions of what to take with us ~ we each have widely differing tastes and styles. After  "consultation" and manufacture, our offering could best be described as canapes(?).  The flour tortillas are recognizeable, the filling partially so (mozzarellla, chedar and provolone, sour cream, spices - cilanto, chili, oregano - along with chopped onion, salsa, and garlic, spread, rolled and cut into fingerfood ... more
