The 4th of July Celebrations . . . and My Doggies DOWNERS!!
The 4th of July is a great holiday!  I loved it as a kid . . . we had a lovely park that we would walk to and see the display.  They were great!! 
Now that I have dogs . . . the holiday is not so great!  Well, not for my dogs, Poppy and Molly.  They really react to the noise.  Those bombs bursting in air are very hard on them. 
In reading Marte Cliff's Remember Your Pets This Weekend I wanted to tell you what I do . . . to calm them:
DOGGIE DOWNERS!!! Yesterday I made the trip to the vet and got them a prescription for tranquilizers!
I found this the best way to calm them.  In Marte's post she tells how a dog climbed over a 6' hight chain-link fence and ran away . . . forever . . . freightened by fireworks.
My dogs act WEIRD when they hear thunder and firecrackers.  They try to hide, and Molly once tired to tear out the laundry room door, just to get into the secluded area to hide. 
Acepromazine is the drug of choice for my doggies.  In writing this post, I Googled Acepromazine and found it on-line at 1-800-Pet-Meds . . ... more
