Free Day in Florida's State Parks - July 17, 2011

Free entrance fee to all of Florida's state parks on Sunday, July 17, 2011 was announced by the Florida Park Service.
This is in honor of National Recreation and Parks Month.
In St. Augustine we have 3 great state parks: Fort Mose (pronounced Moh-Say), Anastasia State Park and Faver-Dykes. Fort Mose was the first free community of ex-slaves. If you enjoy a great day at the beach, you definitely want to visit the 1600 acres of Anastasia State Park with 4 miles of beautiful white beaches. If you enjoy canoeing, picnics, and walking nature trails, please head over to Faver-Dykes State Park and rent a canoe. These are 3 great state parks and Florida has 157 more from which to choose!
Florida's 160 state parks will host events throughout the state: Listing of state park events.   Go outside and enjoy, but you may wish to do this earlier in the day as there just might be afternoon showers.
Below is a map of parks in the area from St. Augustine to central Florida.
