Automatically! Their Landlord Did It!
While cameras on common areas of multi-unit residential buildings have been around for a decade * it started as crime prevention and RISK avoidance requested by insurance carriers * having them INSIDE of a residential unit is NEW and STRANGE.
2 Bulgarian students have found hidden cameras in their apartment in Tampa.  How or WHY they found them is not explained AND the women are NOT the LESSEES of the apartment.  They are SUBlessees of their employer who finds employment for them, gets them travel documents FOR A $1,000 FEE.
The story is STRANGER because there was no reason given for taking down the smoke and motion detectors to discover the cameras NOR was the issue of private individuals breaking private property (the locked closet where the video equipment and supposed wi-fi device was hidden) mentioned as a possible crime without a warrant or legal authority. 
The women have reported this incident to the international agency that arranged their trip and also to their employer, Sky Travel.
