Eye Catching Headline: "With Declining Home Values, Brentwood Might Hike Property Taxes"
"With Declining Home Values, Brentwood Might Hike Property Taxes"

This headline, about one of the communities in my area of expertise, caught my eye this morning and is giving me a lot of pause for thought.  My husband and I have lived in the same home for over thirty years.  Every year when my husband looks at the property tax bill, he comments:  "If our income had increased the percentage that our tax bill has increased, I would be VERY happy."
This blog isn't meant to seek out just one community but to start a thought process.  Have our city services increased by the same percentage as the property taxes?  Is the increase in property taxes just keeping up with cost of living for the city employees?  Are our communities critically analyzing their city budget or waxing political?  Have outdated services been eliminated from the budget?
Once again, this is not meant to be a judgment but a question.  I don't know the answer.
