We have been compiling some of the best local information on places across New York City's outermost borough.  We always felt it was imperative for us to provide the best information available about what this great borough has to offer. Whether it's exploring  Seguine Mansion and Alice Austin House, while learning about the neighborhood of Great Kills or New Dorp, we are putting people in the know. I found it amazing that some Staten island’s more popular lakes like Silver Lake and Grasmere Lake were used for ice harvesting. I also learned that the Dutch mined Todt Hill for iron ore and the community was once called “Yserberg," the Dutch translation for Iron Hill. The community of Todt Hill was named Iron Hill prior to Todt hill.
