Halloween Safety Tips for Bristow, VA Residents
Whether you are going out to trick-or-treat, or staying home to pass out goodies to the kids, safety comes first.  Here are helpful safety tips, many of which have probably been drilled into your head.  Maybe you'll see a new safety tip, but even if you don't, it never hurts to go over the rules of safety one more time.
FOR TRICK-OR-TREATERS:
1.  Go out in a group.  Whether it's having multiple eyes on small children, or young adults traveling in a pack, there is safety in numbers.
2.  Stay in well lit areas. 
3.  Have a flashlight handy for poorly lit areas.
4.  Visit homes of people you know.  It's best to stay in familiar territory.
5.  If a home doesn't have a front porch light on, it's probably best to skip it.  They may not be participating in the Halloween festivities.
6.  Stay on sidewalks and watch for traffic when crossing the street.
7.  Let someone know where you are going and when you plan on returning.
8.  If dressing up, wear a costume that doesn't make it difficult to see where you are going, or present a trip hazard.
