Meaningful Work is a Blessing
Finding meaningful work is a great blessing. As a real estate agent, I face many frustrations each week. Real estate deals fall apart. Buyers disappear. Listings expire. It sometimes feels like I am pounding my head against the wall. However, I do love what I do and realize how important it is to have meaningful work.
I have a daughter who graduated from college last year and she continues to look for work. She is frustrated and I can see the defeat in her eyes. With the unemployment rate just under 9%, I reflect on the blessing which meaningful work brings to each of our lives. Too many people need work.
Why is meaningful work a blessing?
It provides purpose. Getting up each morning to head off to a place where someone is expecting me, who needs me and is relying upon my efforts and labors feels good. I earn money which helps me support my family, give money to charities, pay bills and invest in the future. Challenges abound which cause me to think, to problem solve and use the neurons in my brain. I am stimulated. I provide a needed and meaningful service. I help people find homes to live ... more
