Making A Difference: Do something memorable!
In planning for the holidays, remember, it is your presence (not your presents) that makes the most difference! Now, don't get me wrong: I like and appreciate both, but I have noticed it is the shared moments that last in my memory much longer than what someone gave me last year. Can you remember the gifts you got last year? Plan to do something special this year with those you love.
One year, one of my friends rented a limo for Christmas Eve and took her family on a tour of one of Tucson's most decorated neighborhoods, Winterhaven. After they oowed and ahhed, they had a picnic in the desert! I imagine they are all still talking about the Christmas we rented the limo!
One of the great things about giving yourself is that it doesn't have to cost a lot. Maybe, a coupon book for a monthly lunch to an older relative. Or babysitting coupons for the one's who never get a night out away from the kids. Or, maybe it is spending a part of the holiday singing carols at a retirement home or hospital.
