Salt Lake City, Utah pops up at #6 on Marketwatch's Top 10 best places to buy investment property in the U.S.
They cite low inventory and rising median home prices as reasons, but fail to mention that rents on single family homes are pretty high compared to the cost of homes right now.
My presumption is that families who have lost their homes to short sale or foreclosure aren't too excited about renting a 2 bedroom apartment, so they are looking for single family homes to rent. I've been thinking about keeping my home as a rental for a few years rather than selling it right now myself.
