It's Going to Be a Great 2008!
In today's Real Estate marketplace, there seems to be a lot of negativity surrounding buying and selling, financing, home price growth, etc.  As a local Realtor in the Greater Binghamton area for over 25 years, I find that while there is merit to some of the "hype" in other parts of the country, these trends have not affected our local market.  In fact, I find quite the opposite true - our market is thriving today with rising home prices, plenty of reputable mortgage lenders and a community that likes to own their own homes.
According to the January 2008 issue of Realtor Magazine, Binghamton, NY is second in the United States for home price growth last year.  Our area was up 19.8% with a median home price of $111,200.  We were second only to Salt Lake City, Utah.
Of course, while financing options may have changed for buyers in 2007, the fact remains that there are a multitude of lenders still offering competitive rates.  In addition, as the financial dynamics of our country change, lenders responded by creating many programs to assist buyers to purchase the home of their dreams!
