It's the Little Things that Matter
Last night we had friends over for dinner and what has become an annual tradition with friends and their Moms continued.
We started a few years ago with taking two special ladies who both are celebrating their 90th birthdays this year.  The wisdom they have to share is so real and valuable.  To begin with they noted the importance of wearing red, white and blue on the 4th of July.  They also talked about a highlight from the day of hearing the Declaration of Independence read out loud at their senior living center.  I wonder how many people in our country have never heard that? 
 

In turning 90 we asked what wisdom would you offer to the rest of us.  She sat and thought for a minute and then said you know, I think it is always important to do two things:  look beyond the picture and practice gratitude daily.  This should be an American Express commerical in their "priceless" series.
 

 
Today I am grateful to have people in my life that remind me how important it is to practice gratitude.  Here is a link to a heart-warming non-profit that practices gratitude with flowers.
